The Greatest Gift of All
Acts 24:26 says Felix kept Paul in prison for two years because “he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe.” Paying Felix could have sent Paul on his way, preaching the Good News. But Paul knew what he was doing, and he didn’t compromise his faith.
While Felix was hoping for a bribe, Paul had already given him a far more valuable gift — the gospel. The gospel is “the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). When we think we know what we want, it can be easy to overlook the greater gifts God has already given us.
Not only did Paul give Felix a gift greater than gold, his faithfulness and obedience paid great dividends down the road. Later on in Acts, we see that Paul’s appeal placed him in front of King Agrippa and eventually in Rome to share the good news of Jesus Christ with an empire that influenced the world.
God has given each of us gifts and good news to share. What potential does He want to fulfill through you?
